Artistic Statement

I am a Kentucky-based dancer who has earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Contemporary Dance from Indiana University Bloomington. Although I specialize in contemporary as my main form of dance, I am also passionate about musical theatre, jazz, ballet, tap, and lyrical dancing. My goal in pursuing and creating my art is that I want to tell stories that inspire audiences and allow them to engage in my choreography and performance. It is important to me that my art is relatable and enjoyable for many people, not just people from a specific background. As an artist, I draw from my experiences with different people, places, and things to create. My inspiration comes from the most important people in my life which are my friends and family. A recent work of mine is inspired by my Uncle Mike and his love of butterflies. It focuses on how we grow and change as people through our lived experiences. Even though every single person has a different lived experience, growth is something that everyone can relate to. Dance is a therapeutic and explorative art form for me and I love being able to reflect on and share experiences with an audience.
